Since I am in the middle of planning a wedding I tend to check out the Offbeat Bride site quite a bit.
Imagine my surprise to see the fabulous [info]cupcake_goth featured on today's post.

There's even a link to her upcoming book.

It's National Doughnut Day, and you know what that means -- FREE DOUGHNUTS!

The Salvation Army created the holiday, which is always celebrated on the first Friday in June, in 1917 to boost the morale of troops fighting in WWI. According to holidayinsights.com, those doughnuts were fried in oil inside an American soldier's metal helmet.

Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme outlets both are commemorating the holiday by giving out free doughnuts.

To get your freebee at Dunkin' Donuts, you'll need to buy a drink. But there are no strings attached at Krispy Kreme.

What music moves you

I am in the process of compiling a list of songs for an upcoming event, and would love to hear from all of you what song or songs make you want to get up and shake your arse, sing along, or at the very least tap your foot, whenever they are played.

All genres are good, as this is for a very eclectic crowd.

Word of the Day - One you might actually use

MEANING:
adjective: Having yellow teeth.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Greek xanthos (yellow) + -odon (toothed).

USAGE:
"Maybe the fact that you are becoming xanthodontous, could be attributed to the fact that you guzzle a quart of coffee and smoke three fags before noon every day."

Stand and Deliver - by No Doubt?

I have always had a soft spot for No Doubt.

When they redid "It's My Life," by Talk Talk, it was inspired and a huge hit for them.

Now they have redone "Stand and Deliver" by Adam and the Ants.

This time - it just sounds so campy, I don't know if it's Gwen's voice or the tempo that they are using but it kind of reminds me of bad refried American Idol crap.

Sci Fi is now SyFy

Around the office we have taken to pronouncing it "Sih Fee" due to the silliness of this move by the network.
Okay it's not that funny. But give me a break, at least 2/3 of the office is hung over.

Speak to me of the Hawaiian Islands...

Have any of you been there?

If so, do you have a favorite island to travel to and if so why?

Also - is there a certain hotel/resort/B&B that you would recommend?

South Park: The Ungroundable

If you missed it - go check it out - it was all about goth kids vs. the vampire wanna be posers who drink clamato juice.
The Peter Murphy-esque "Goth Kids Burning Down Hot Topic" song cracked me up.

www.southparkstudios.com/

Description:
Butters is sure he’s seen a Vampire at school but he can’t get anyone to listen to him. Meanwhile, the Goth Kids are angry and frustrated when the other kids can’t tell the difference between a Goth and a Vampire.

New job title??

During introductions as a company meeting this morning I was referred to as the "Dominatrix of Finance."

That sounds so much sexier then Sr. Client Finance Manager.

Wonder if I should bring in a crop with a $ dollar sign on the end and prop it in my office window?

side smile

A surprise in my office this morning....

We've been talking about getting married for awhile  - but now it's official!!!

He had a bunch of my co-workers in on it and the whole office was covered in bells and crepe paper.

By the way - in case anyone doesn't know - Andrea (On-dree-a) is my given name which I use at work.

Only people at work and my mom when she is pissed off call me that anymore as my nickname of Oani (On-nee) has been used since I was 6.
